My identity, growing up in the Ottawa Valley, is inseparable from the lakes and rivers of which we are keepers. We are living in the Anthropocene era, in a climate emergency. To recognize our agency in these critical times is to act as stewards of our universally shared ecosystems, and that begins in our own backyard.
